Texan Wildflowers
Texan Wildflowers
If you have driven around the Texas Hill Country recently, you have undoubtedly noticed our beautiful wildflowers beginning to make their annual appearance. Nowhere is that more evident than at Wildseed Farms, the largest working wildflower seed farm in the U.S., located seven miles east of Fredericksburg -- just down the road from Austin.Through April 18, Wildseed Farms is hosting its annual Pedernales Valley Wildflower Celebration, showcasing more than 200 acres of wildflowers in different stages of growth. Visit the farm this weekend and guide yourself on their walking tour to see bluebonnets, red poppies, phlox, and other spring flowers in abundance. In addition, the farm recently opened The Butterfly Haus(Haus is house in German), a 3,000 square-foot exhibit that highlights butterflies native to Texas, their habitat, and food sources.
While you're there, you can also enjoy beverages and food from the Brew-Bonnett Biergarten, buy some seeds or live plants, or design your own fresh-flower bouquet to take home.
Wildseed Farms is open 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., seven days a week, and admission is FREE (see link for admission prices to The Butterfly Haus)!
Grab your family or a group of friends and make a day of it!
Pretty nice!

ps.
