WindowsXP SP2 Execution Protection Technology
WindowsXP SP2 Execution Protection Technology
Microsoft's upcoming Windows Service Pack 2 will focus on "security at the expense of backward compatibility." In Summary: pages of memory that contain executable code will have to be tagged as executable to ensure that buffer overflow exploits cannot execute arbitrary stack data, for example. The only processors that currently support the "execution protection" technology are AMD's x86-64 and Intel's Itanium (although Intel will soon release a Xeon-class processor compatible with x86-64).
Here's the infoworld article:

And here's a support page from Microsoft with links to specific information about the SP2 updates and instructions on how to ensure compatibility:

这样以后XP漏洞就少啦,搞安全的人玩起来要难了;那些做加壳软件的会有麻烦了;做compiler的,也有事情做咯。
